Getting Started
How do I set up Nudglet?

There are two roles: sender (you) and recipient (your family member). Here's how to get started:

  1. Download Nudglet on your phone and tap "I'm sending messages"
  2. Sign in with Apple
  3. Tap "Connect with someone," enter their name, and get a pairing code
  4. Have them download Nudglet, tap "I'm receiving messages," and enter the code
  5. They'll be guided through adding the lock screen widget — takes about 60 seconds

After that, you can start sending messages and they'll appear on their lock screen automatically.

How does the recipient add the widget?

After pairing, the app guides them step by step. The short version:

  1. Lock the phone
  2. Long press on the lock screen until it zooms out
  3. Tap Customize, then choose Lock Screen (left option)
  4. Tap the area below the clock to open the widget picker
  5. Search "Nudglet," select the rectangular widget, tap Done

After that, they never need to open the app again.

Does the recipient need an account?

No. Recipients don't sign in, create an account, or provide any personal information. They just enter a pairing code and add the widget. That's it.

Sending Messages
How long until my message appears on their lock screen?

Typically within 1–5 minutes. In rare cases, Apple may delay background activity on the recipient's device, and it can take up to 15–20 minutes. This is an iOS platform constraint — not something we can control.

If a message hasn't appeared after 20 minutes, try asking the recipient to open the Nudglet app briefly, which will trigger a manual refresh.

Can I schedule messages in advance?

Yes — scheduling is a Pro feature. With a Pro subscription, you can set a specific date and time for a message to appear, and a time for it to disappear. Free accounts can only send messages immediately.

Can I set a recurring daily reminder?

Yes — recurring messages are a Pro feature. You can set a message to repeat Daily, Weekdays only, or Weekly. Set it once and it runs automatically.

Why isn't my message showing up?

A few things to check:

  • Make sure the recipient has added the Nudglet widget to their lock screen
  • Wait up to 20 minutes — iOS can delay background refreshes
  • Ask the recipient to briefly open the Nudglet app to force a refresh
  • Make sure the recipient's phone is not in Low Power Mode (this limits background activity)
  • Check that the message hasn't already passed its end time

Pairing & Connection
What's the difference between proximity pairing and code pairing?

Proximity pairing: If both phones have Nudglet open and are near each other, they find each other automatically. The recipient just taps "Connect." Great for pairing with someone in the same house.

Code pairing: You share a 6-character code (via text, call, or share sheet) and the recipient enters it. Works from any distance. Ideal for setting up with a parent in another city.

Can the recipient disconnect?

Yes. Either party can disconnect at any time. The recipient goes to Settings in the Nudglet app and taps "Disconnect from [Name]," then holds the button for 3 seconds to confirm. The sender is notified immediately and no further messages can be sent.

Can someone receive messages without agreeing to it?

No. The recipient must actively download the app, choose "I'm receiving messages," and either enter a pairing code or tap to connect with a nearby sender. There is no way to send messages to someone who hasn't deliberately paired with you.

Billing & Subscriptions
What's included in the free version?

The free version includes: sending immediate messages to one recipient, the lock screen widget, and limited saved favorite phrases. It's free forever — no trial, no expiry.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. To cancel:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name → Subscriptions
  3. Find Nudglet and tap Cancel Subscription

You'll keep access until the end of your current billing period.

I purchased Lifetime — does it transfer if I get a new phone?

Yes. Lifetime purchases are tied to your Apple ID, not your device. Download Nudglet on your new phone, sign in with the same Apple ID, and tap "Restore Purchases" in Settings.
